We do something a little different at New Vision
The early church is described as devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer. In that spirit, we share a meal at 5 PM, then spend time worshipping through music, praying, and reading the Bible together.
Our pastor does not polish a sermon in the traditional sense. She comes to the gathering with a little more study, a few more insights, and a plan to facilitate a discussion. But the heart of the gathering is the conversation: what do the Scriptures say? what does it mean? How are they supposed to impact us today?
Why? Well, for one, we value a rhythm of church that is wise about how many time-consuming things there are for a pastor to do in a week, and we have decided during this season that leading us in good conversation and practicing (not just hearing) the teachings of Jesus is important. But also, church shouldn’t be oriented around the performance of one person! The church is like a body, each part offering its uniqueness to others. We want to hear from each other, not just the pastor.
Look around a little and see what we have talked about in past seasons.
